I have met many filmmakers who were avid skateboarders in their teens; some remain so today. Although scientists have yet to find a link between the two activities, but as they both encourage people to find their own personal style, you can see why there there is a connection.
Of course, filmmaking and skateboarding go together like peanutbutter and jelly. And my favorite city is always the bread for two great tastes, as this film proves.
Skateboarding is a bit challenging in New York City, particularly when you have a board like this…
Yes it’s true, we love time lapse photography. We love watching the process of how things come together. It’s really great to see it with a painting though because you can see how the artist’s ideas change over time. They keep their CREATIVITY engine running at all times, taking the painting further. It’s pretty exciting to see what new ideas they come up with along the way.
If you were a one-eyed hula hoop what would you see when some human took you out on a playdate?

A camera was set on the hulahoop so you can see what it would see.
Thanks BoingBoing for the tip!
A pangram sentence is precisely that: one that contains every letter in the alphabet. The most well known is probably “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” but how many more can you learn?
It must be kind of neat to be known as the inventor of a sentence. It’s a bit different than be a “writer”. Nevin Nollop is the inventor of the most well known panagram.
This year we’re going to experience four unusual dates: 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11.
On top of that, this year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years.
And here’s a neat trick that will work for everyone: Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born – now add the age you will be this year. The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world if you’re born in the “1900’s”. If you were born in the “2000’s” then the number is only 11, i.e. 2000 + 11 years old.
The Human Spirograph:
I enjoy repetitive movement as much as the next, but somehow I don’t think I could find “the music in these circles”.
Thanks for the tip BrainPickings!
This site could not have been built without the help and insight of Michael Morgenstern. My thanks go out to him.
Help save indie film and give this guy a job in web design or film!
